Casual style has been around for decades. It has adapted and evolved by leaps and bounds over the years.

But before you type in t-shirt for women online in India in your browser, know that t-shirts aren’t the only casual piece of clothing you can own. Read on to find out more about casual style.

What is Casual Style?

The literal meaning of casual is to be relaxed and informal. Casual style is typically functional and fashionable. Clothes included in the casual dress code are t-shirts, jeans, sweaters, sneakers, and hoodies. You can even wear retro pieces as part of your casual fashion statement.

The ultimate goal is to wear comfortable clothes but not appear dreary or lazy.

Where did the Casual Dress Code come from?

Casual style is believed to have origins in sportswear when sweatpants were first introduced in the 1920s. Over time, sportswear-inspired athletic clothes like shorts and t-shirts were highly comfortable to wear. These pieces gained popularity over time, and, thus, the casual style was born.

When can you dress Casual?

Some places where you could wear casual clothes would be

● Restaurants or Pubs

● The Movies

● Dates

● Picnics

● Airplanes

● Playing Sports

But these are only a few examples. Casual style has evolved and can now be worn to different events, provided it falls within the dress code.

Types of Casual Style

1. Business

As the name suggests, business casual is a culmination of casual style to suit the formal workplace. For instance, a blazer with a t-shirt and pants or a blouse and cotton pants. Organizations with a younger workforce like IT start-ups are increasingly in favor of business casual as it goes well with their ethos.

2. Street

Street style is often considered more of a movement than a dress code. It has inspired many to accept self-expression through fashion. There is no dress code to street style, and that’s the beauty of it. Perhaps, pair a bralette with a blazer and sneakers. It may seem absurd, but there’s no limit to street style. Go on and buy those designer bralette tops you’ve always wanted.

3. Sporty

For those who love gym shorts or joggers, the sporty casual style is for you. If you love pairing sneakers with your khaki pants or a button-down shirt, welcome yourself to the world of sporty casual.

4. Dressy

Stepping out for dinner with friends? Dressy casual is the way to go. You wouldn’t be expected to wear an elegant dress for such an event. But you wouldn’t want to wear a t-shirt and joggers either. Pair a lightweight fabric dress with earrings and heels, and you’re all set for the dressy casual dress code.

Casual style is one of the most versatile dress codes. But don’t take it to the extreme. Mix it up with fun and fashionable pieces to stay ahead of the curve.
